Five months after the death of the NBA legend, Young Money boss Lil Wayne made a special presentation of his Kobe Bryant tribute track recorded in 2009. Among the images of the Lakers champion, Weezy performed against a backdrop of black background with the name Kobe and the number 24 in lights.

“In 2009, I paid tribute to Kobe Bryant, it was wonderful to know that he heard and danced to the music that I dedicated to him. I remember every moment we share.

The world must learn to honor people in life to know what they feel”, said Lil Wayne in his speech.

Excerpt from the song “Kobe Bryant” by Lil Wayne (2009):

“Black Mamba, attack conquest / The basketball beast, the rap monster”.

Wayne also changed the lyrics to pay homage to Kobe’s late daughter, Gianna, and his wife Vanessa.

Two fingers for Mambacita / I’m screaming Black Mamba Matters / My heart goes out to Vanessa and the whole Black Mamba family”, added Weezy, who shared the VIBE cover with Kobe a decade ago.
